A rural, intimate, enchanting wedding at a countryside French chateau in Bordeaux

“Our wedding was in rural France, in the Lot Et Garonne area of Aquitaine in South West France.  The ceremony was at the beautiful Le Halle in Monteton, which had a stunning rural backdrop. We then had our wedding reception at our family house in Agnac. It was so special to get married in our home from home.”

“I’ve always known I wanted to get married at the Chateau. It’s a very special place to me because of how much my Mum loved it. I remember the day we saw it first. It needed a lot of work but she could visualise what it could truly look like. Luckily Simon saw and felt how special it was too me when we visited together after we got engaged”.

The Bride wore a stunning lace Maggie Sottero wedding dress

“I wore the beautiful lace Melanie dress by Maggie Sottero … it was such a wonderful blend of relaxed sophistication.”

“I had a green colour theme running through the wedding, and my wedding heels were from Rainbow Club.”

The couple pulled together little personal details throughout the wedding to make for a relaxed, happy and personal feel to the day

“Obviously its an old farm house in rural France so I knew the wedding wasn’t going to be super polished, but I wanted to embrace that and use local suppliers. So we chose traditional French food and used local wine. I wanted to use local wild flowers but at that time of the year there are not many flowers around so we had to go with what was available. Jonquil still managed to make the marquee flowers look gorgeous.”

“As well as reflecting the location Simon and I also wanted the day to be personal. From the stories told by the Celebrant in the ceremony, to my brother reading the passage from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin that my Mum wrote to me when she found out she was ill, the photo timeline of our lives and a picture of us in each destination that the tables were named after…there wasn’t a theme as such, but more just a wish to make it feel relaxed and happy.”

“Tim … they are fabulous, we LOVE them!!!! Such wonderful memories. I can't wait to make my photo book! :-)”
