Gaby & Nick got married at the charming Ashley Wood Farm in Wiltshire

“We got married at Ashley Wood Farm in Wiltshire. It’s a beautiful old barn, with pastel blue doors and beautiful gardens overlooking a lake. It was love at first sight!”

Gaby wore a bespoke Sesay Bridal wedding dress, with shoes from LK Bennett. Bridesmaid dresses were from Zara

“I found this process pretty daunting to start with - there’s just so much choice. After doing the rounds at a number of High St bridal shops I was getting quite deflated because nothing was quite what I was looking for. A fashion designer friend recommended Sesay Bridal in Belsize Park. The dresses are completely bespoke and it’s such an enjoyable, collaborative process.  We decided to make the dress up as two separate pieces, so the lace came off for the evening and underneath was a simple yet beautiful crepe silk dress.

“My shoes were Raffia wedges from LK Bennett, and my necklace was from Ginette NY. My bracelet was a gorgeous gift from my bridesmaids”

“I wanted something a little unusual for the bridesmaids, and in the end we found the perfect dresses from Zara, complemented by necklaces from Joulberry

The couple wanted a home made feel to their wedding, creating hand-written name tags, personal photos on string, and a DIY photo booth

“We wanted everything to have a homemade, personal feel, starting with the venue, which we made up ourselves. It involved a lot of planning … but we tried to make it as much fun as possible!”

We did photos on string around the dairy barn, hand written name tags for the table, and beautiful watercolour animal table places by Susan Windsor. We made a DIY photo booth with polaroid cameras, some props and hay bales.”

“Some of the bar flowers were foraged from the meadows around Ashley Wood, and we used dried herbs from our garden at home.”

Gaby’s wedding flowers included thistles to reflect her Scottish heritage

“My flowers were made of Eucalyptus, roses, mint, lavender and thistles (for my Scottish roots).”

“We found the most amazing florist: Flowers by Tidbury, near Sherborne. We wanted something simple, delicate and pretty and she just totally got the look and completely over-delivered. She made a beautiful flower crown for me with long flowing ribbons and I absolutely loved my bouquet. It smelt divine, full of amazing fresh flowers along with my favourite herbs.”

Advice to brides: ask for help, and make sure the right people are at your wedding

“Don’t be bashful asking family and friends for help: we found that everyone wanted to help as much as possible. Delegate small tasks to others and you will get loads done quickly. Try to enjoy the planning process and get excited by it!”

“Remember that this is supposed to be the best day of your life, and the biggest party you’re ever going to throw. Make sure you share it with the people you want to. And, most importantly, have fun!”

“Tim was a star from start to finish.  He was so easy to work with, unobtrusive, undemanding and totally captured the spirit of the day”
